(January 31, 2020) There are many vocalists who can reasonably carry a tune and develop a lucrative career.  Yet on another level, there are singers who can light up any room from the opening note.  Raul Midón’s warm tone and dexterous guitar echo gently soulful aftertastes, attracting positive responses on several SoulTracks CD reviews over the years.  And though the 2-time Grammy winning vocalist and guitarist was primarily marketed in the jazz world, his musicality has reshaped rock classics such as The Steve Miller Band’s “Fly Like An Eagle” and graced electronic dance music produced by DJ Little Louie Vega.

In our latest First Listen, we celebrate Midón’s extraordinary talents on “I Love the Afternoon,” the debut single from his upcoming Mack Avenue/Artistry Music project, The Mirror.  Meshing bossa nova with his trademark soulful tenor, the hopeful romantic expresses love’s fascinating insights:  “Still time to get in tune/In tune with the wonder, the rain and the thunder/Til’ the sun takes a bow to the moon…”Midón’s lively guitar solo and stellar background vocals accentuate this engaging piece, demonstrating again his commitment to genuine love songs and his continuing gift of connecting with fans in any musical platform.  Check it out!
