(January 18, 2024) South London singer and songwriter Raelle realized that she wanted to become a professional musician when she was 15 years old, and she had an opportunity to perform a song that she wrote in front of an audience for the first time. Raelle liked the reaction that she got from the audience, but more importantly, she liked how sharing herself through the art of music made her feel. “It left me feeling a lot less alone and heard,” she said in a 2021 interview with The Hype Magazine.
That article ran around the time that Raelle was promoting her EP Wake Up Sunshine, a four-track project where Raelle displayed her love of neo-soul music. It is an excellent record, and you should give it a listen when you get a chance.
More recently Raelle dropped her latest EP, Bloodlines, and the song “Falling” is the focus on this First Listen. “Falling” is a song that allows Raelle to highlight two qualities that run through all her work: her affinity for instrumentation instrumentally lush, jazz infused neo-soul music and her deeply personal lyricism.
“Falling” is a song about two people who know that they are not good for each other, but they seem to find themselves back in each other’s orbit. Check Raelle’s “Falling” here.
