First Listen: Peabo Bryson tells us that “I’m With You”

peabo

Peabo Bryson has secured himself as one of the truly great vocalists of the past half century, and has also established a legacy as a terrific soul music artist who has won adult soul audiences with his love songs for four decades. So it is kind of surprising that Peabo released a new song so quietly that we didn’t even know it came out. But that is just what happened a few months ago, when Peabo issued a single for the big, orchestral ballad, “I’m With You.”

Peabo performed the song live with an orchestra back in 2013, but it never made it onto record until recently. But we’ve found the original live performance on video. The song is less like his great soul albums of the 70s and 80s and much more like the big ballads he later recorded for Disney movies. Check out Peabo’s performance of “I’m With You” below and tell us what you think.
