(May _, 2023) Music fans may know Paula Letang for her much-lauded work as a top tier radio personality as host of “All About The Funk,” and the director of the Toronto Funk & Soul Music Festival. But here at SoulTracks, we’re getting to know her as a recording artist who has just delivered a great new single that recalls the dance music gems of the late 70s.
“DJ Spin That Song Again” is discofied track that calls listeners to the dancefloor even as the lyrics beg the disc jockey to put a hot song on repeat. And Letang’s understated vocals work well, keeping the focus on the groove. She tells us her goal was to create “a summer groove nostalgia type song recognizing artists of yesteryear like Rick James, Teena Marie, Melba Moore and Diana Ross.”
