First Listen: Paul Hill and George Clinton want to know “Ur Thoughts”

(December 22, 2016) Paul Hill was raised in Detroit, so it is not surprising that the music of Motown and P-Funk both stand as major musical influences. Hill even became a part of the P-Funk camp, performing with the P-Funk All-Stars.

However, Hills new single, “Ur Thought,” which gives the business to folks who spend too much of their time sticking their noses into his business, takes derives its sound as much of Memphis as Motown. Yep, those backing vocals supporting Hill’s distinctive baritone have a doo-wop feel to them that definitely bring to mind four or five guys singing harmonies on a street corner or high school stair well. And the musical arrangement comes straight out of the Memphis, southern soul playbook, with George Clinton helping out to boot.

At any rate, “Ur Thoughts,” a track from Hill’s upcoming project I Gotta E’Pee is fun and some might even call it roadhouse worthy. Check it out.
