First Listen: Ozone returns to deliver the “Love”

ozone

(July 9, 2019) It’s been awhile since we last heard from Ozone, the funk band that was part of the Motown stable back in the 70s and early 80s. The group hit then with “Strutt My Thang” and “Gigolette” on their three Motown albums, but really made folks take notice for their work with the legendary songstress Teena Marie.

After a long time away, Ozone is back with founder Charles Glenn and a lineup that also includes Rodney Trotter, Derek Organ, Ewen Williams, Rodney Thomas, Patricia Thomas and D’LaVance. And they’re picking back up where they left off with some deep, funky R&B.

“Gonna Miss My Love,” has a Parliament-Funkadelic vibe, and those deep thumping bass lines to boot. It is a fun throwback number that takes us back to the Ohio funk jams 80s, and should appeal to an awful lot of SoulTrackers.

Check out “Gonna Miss My Love” below and welcome back Ozone!
