(November 29, 2021) Back in the 1970s, the Average White Band burst onto the international music scene, with a brand of funky pop and soul that won over millions of fans. And in the center of it was Hamish Stuart, one of the group’s two lead singers and the falsetto voice behind many of their biggest hits.
Hamish has been a solo artist for more than two decades, and he still posesses that familiar voice that goes with his top tier guitar work. For his latest single, “Soul Deep,” he teams with Output/Input, consisting of renowned musicians who spent years supporting Chaka Khan and Gladys Knight. They’ve now formed their own band and brought in other artists to record both original music and covers of classic songs.
“Soul Deep” literally pops out of the speakers with big band funky goodness. It has a classic 70s R&B vibe, with a powerful rhythm section, horns aplenty and Hamish Stuart’s familiar voice upfront. We just love it.
