(August 28, 2026) Back in 1986, the legendary group KC and The Sunshine Band performed the song “Love Goes Up and Down” in the movie Knights of the City, but the melodic cut was never officially released.
It’s been 40 years, and now the song has found a new life as a tasty collaboration between KC and artist/producer NYNE. Available in several mixes, “Love Goes Up and Down” is a song about the many stages of love. KC says, “Love goes in many directions. Sometimes you fall in love, fall out of love, and then find your way back in love again. You break up, you make up, and you start all over again. Love goes up and down. Love goes round and round.”
We like all of the mixes, but we’re partial to the OG Mix of the song, which has a roll-down-the-window-on-a-sunny-evening kinda groove to it. It shows KC and the Sunshine Band delivering a vibe that fits 2026 just right, and NYNE deftly handles the vocals, resulting in a song that we think SoulTrackers are going to dig.
