(July 17, 2020) We’ve been covering the hot band Nick Pride & The Pimptones for awhile now. The act consistently delivers a combination of funky grooves, beefy breaks and blue eyed soul music. Their slick arrangements have all the harmonic sophistication that the jazz cats love, delivered with a heavyweight punch that keeps the dance floor moving.
For their newest single, Newcastle/UK band is back with “Don’t Turn Me Loose,” the first single from their new album Ideology (due in September 2020), and a song that will undoubtedly get SoulTrackers shaking. Featuring a 60s Stax vibe, with cool horn arrangements and an insistent beat, “Don’t Turn Me Loose” sounds like the classic soul song you never heard before.
Nick says, “I had fun with the lyrics of this one. It’s that moment in a relationship when you realize what an idiot you’re being. The message is: ‘Please bear with me, I’ll be myself again soon’!”
