(June 25,2017) — Less than a month after serving up the first preview of his upcoming Good Man CD, Ne-Yo is offering a second taste of what’s to come with the summery midtempo entry, “Another Love Song.” In contrast to the edgier strains of its predecessor (“Earn Your Love”), the Gentleman’s latest contender keeps things light (yet still kinda funky)—trading street-savvy beats for Chic-esque guitar strums and a retro-fied bass line.
Delivered with his signature tenor swagg and charm, the song progresses gracefully and tastefully with a smooth-as-silk hook and down-to-earth lyrics. While it might be a little too poppy for the tastes of some SoulTrackers, the tune’s feel-good melodic and arrangement elements are encouraging signs of a return to form following the hard-line mode of Ne-Yo’s last album, 2015’s Non-Fiction.
