(September 3, 2026) Dayton, Ohio native Nate Lark had career goals to play in the NBA, but a critical knee injury upended his dreams and aspirations, forcing him to pivot back to his love of music. After reflecting on his early years singing gospel in the church, he relocated to San Diego and rediscoverd his passion for R&B during the COVID-19 pandemic while reawakening the untapped gift of songwriting.
The effort he’s putting into the process works to his benefit on his latest single, “Worth the Wait.” With an ethereal style that traces the musical tapestry of John Legend and Raheem DeVaughn, the smooth, sleek single is soulfully punctuated by bedroom crooning and background vocals conjuring EWF vibes. It’s a solid expedition that feels like “Can’t Find Love” set in an urban contemporary galaxy.
Clocking in at a mesmerizing five minutes long, the track is a welcoming return to epic journeys found on classic R&B records while breaking away from the limited boundaries of today’s radio time limits. “I believe this song brings back the emotion and storytelling that R&B is known for,” Lark says. “[It’s] a song about having the patience and self-awareness to not settle for a relationship that doesn’t align with what your heart truly desires. The song explores the idea of manifesting a love that reflects the qualities you’ve always hoped for, from attraction and intelligence to emotional connection, compatibility, and a deeper understanding of one another…It’s about remaining open to receiving love in its purest form.”
