(October 3, 2025) Getting involved in a relationship is an act of trust that requires people to become vulnerable and give up some control. That’s why it’s called falling in love, because control is the one thing you don’t have when falling. What people want in that moment is to be able to grab onto something that’s stable and reassuring. People want those words of reassurance to come quickly, because how reassuring will the “right” words be if the speaker is hesitant.
Singer, guitarist, and songwriter Nashon Holloway captures the insecurity and the desire for certainty in her song “In A Hurry.” The tune consists of Holloway posing a series of questions with a hook that begins with asking “Would you tell me in a hurry that you’d reach out for me.”
“In A Hurry” has a breezy, mid-tempo feel that the Kalamazoo-born and Chicago-raised Holloway said was deeply influenced by the steppers music the draws people in Illinois and Michigan to the dance floor, as well as the sophisticated and lyrical soul of Motown.
