Myriam-Catharina swings on “New Buds”

(March 11, 2026) Few things let a lady know someone is thinking about them like a bouquet of roses. However, roses begin dying the moment the florist clips the stem. Songsmith Myriam-Catharina does magic with the image of dying roses as a metaphor for a dying relationship on her latest single “New Buds.”

“New Buds” is a jazzy number that is ideally suited for a singer who brings a lounge singer sensibility to her work. Vocally, Myrian-Catharina’s stylings are reminiscent of Amy Winehouse, who is one of her musical influences. Ella Fitzgerald is another influence, and Myriam-Catharina embodies the First Lady of Song’s penchant for musical storytelling.

The old roses in “New Buds” reveal a person who has allowed a relationship to whither. Myriam-Catharina’s appeal for “New Buds” stems for her desire to recapture what is lost. “New Buds” is a great song for an artist who is becoming a SoulTracks favorite. A German national, Catharina is another singer whose reverence for American soul music is heard in her work. Check it out here.
