(October 3, 2023) Myriam-Catharina’s “I Miss Me” is a song about pulling out at that point when a person realizes that they’re in deep but have not reached that point of no return. And like most songs of the ‘leaving you for me’ variety, the German born singer and songwriter notes that “I Miss Me” was inspired by actual events.
“The song revolves around a unique connection. I envisioned the connection deepening, but it didn’t work out as I hoped. I found myself lost in my emotions, which is why the song is titled ‘I Miss Me.’”
The artist packs a lot of words and emotions into a song that clocks in at a tad over two minutes long. Lyrically, “I Miss Me” reads like a breakup letter posted on a refrigerator door. A lot of thought went into what’s being said about a relationship that one party poured so much into while receiving so little in return.
Myriam-Catharina adopts a conversational and matter of fact tone that plays well with mid-tempo, percussive funk of the arrangement that features a thumping bass, soulful keyboard riffs and a bluesy guitar. The tune is well put together and that makes her words go down oh so sweetly. Check out “I Miss Me” here.
