First Listen: Myriam-Catharina moves on from her “Guest”

(October 21, 2025) Since joining the ranks of SoulTracks a few years ago, singer-songwriter Myriam-Catharina is one of the many favorites I’ve reviewed here. Her jazz-flavored alto vocals and well produced smooth grooves are ear catchers.

This new single, “Guest,” finds Myriam-Catharina’s storytelling becoming more pointed and polished, along with her delivery. The mid-slow tempo, led by the solid sounds of the electric piano, gives a cool 70’s, New York City vibe. As for the tale, Myriam tells her now former love, in summary, that it’s really time for both of us to get on with our separate lives. “Feels like something’s changed…don’t feel your power…you’re nothing but a guest anymore…it’s time to let you go and time for me to grow” – this should give y’all more than an idea where our lady from Germany is coming from. Myriam is not pulling any punches here.

Myriam-Catharina is definitely taking the grown folks route here with “Guest” and I’m all for it. This is one for the adult R&B/jazz stations to add to their playlists, as well as y’all who, in case the love and thrill is gone, can spin this to that former love as you head towards the door.
