(May 3, 2023) Miriam Nyarko is an artist who knows where her talents come from, and far from wasting them, the Hertfordshire-based singer/songwriter and actress has put those gifts to good use. Fans will hear her vocal gifts on her new afropop infused gospel single “Built on You.” Musical theater fans may have seen Nyarko perform as Nala when The Lion King came to London’s West End, or when she toured with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Perhaps viewer caught her on the small screen in the Disney and BBC series Almost Never.
Nyarko has been blessed with an abundance of talent, and on “Built on You” tells the world that she knows from whom those blessings flow. Seamlessly fusing afrobeat and R&B with a message that expresses the undying faith she places on God’s solid foundation, “Built on You” is a song that draws its inspiration from scripture.
Nyarko notes that “Built on You” was indeed divinely inspired and is based on Christ’s parable contrasting believers with unbelievers by comparing the former to a man who built his house on rock and the latter to a man who built his house on sand: “The track was created in under half an hour, and easily became one of the most favourite songs I’d ever written. The song is inspired by my Bible verse for 2023, Matthew 7:25, which says, ‘The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundations on the rock’. This song is my personal testimony shared to inspire anyone listening. This is my love story, my faith story, declaring that God is my firm foundation”.
