(September 23, 2019) We first became acquainted with singer, songwriter and guitarist Mike Farris back in 2015, when he received some well deserved accolades, winning a Grammy Award for his fantastic Shine For All The People album.
When Mike was touring the UK this Spring, promoting his latest album, Silver and Stone, he was invited in to do a pit stop session with the guys at Masterlink Studios. Despite not having met the musicians before, they formed an immediate chemistry that showed itself from the moment of the opening chords.
The Masterlink Sessions is a collaboration between studio owner/producer James Welch and bandleader/bassist Stefan Redtenbacher, with a crackerjack lineup of musicians (Mike Sturgis on drums, guitarist Mike Outram on guitar and Pete Whittaker on Hammond).
A few weeks ago we premiered an incredible version of the Gospel spiritual “River Jordan” from these sessions, and now we have another absolutely stunning performance. “Movin’ Me” shows off Farris’s powerful lead vocals, and he’s matched on this Roots Gospel gem by guest vocalist (and a new SoulTracks fave) Jo Harman, as well as backing vocalists Elles Bailey and Helena May Harrison.
We are extremely proud to present the World Premiere of this fantastic live performance. SoulTrackers, please take a moment and check this out and welcome back the incomparable Mike Farris to our pages.
