(July 29, 2019) Mike Farris moved to the front of the class in 2015, when he won a Grammy Award for his fantastic Shine For All The People album.
But when he was touring the UK this Spring, promoting his latest album, Silver and Stone, he was invited in to do a pit stop session with the guys at Masterlink Studios. Despite not having met the musicians before, they formed an immediate chemistry that showed itself from the moment of the opening chords.
The result is a breathtaking cover of the Gospel spiritual “River Jordan,” which was well performed on the Shine For All The People album, but takes on a whole new, organic feeling on this version.
The Masterlink Sessions are a collaboration between studio owner/producer James Welch and bandleader/bassist Stefan Redtenbacher (Austria), with a crackerjack lineup of musicians (Mike Sturgis on drums, guitarist Mike Outram on guitar and Pete Whittaker on Hammond).
