First Listen: Michael Franks returns with a cool summer song

(May 16, 2018) Back in the 1980s, one of the monster stars of the contemporary jazz scene was Michael Franks. With his laid back grooves and his cool, sometimes whispered delivery, he won over millions of fans around the world with songs like “Popsicle Toes” and “When I Give My Love To You.”

Michael is preparing to issue his first new album since 2011, The Music In My Head, and he has just issued a sneak peek in the form of the single, “As Long As We’re Both Together.” The song is classic Michael Franks, with tasty guitar and rhythm section, and his soft vocals up front. It sounds like a summer night at the beach, circa 1984.

Check out “As Long As We’re Both Together” and welcome back Michael Franks.
