Washington DC singer, songwriter and producer Mattie Safer cites influences ranging from Earth, Wind & Fire to De La Soul, and he took that love with him as he became immersed in the DC jazz, dance and even punk music scene. That led to a stint as bassist for the dance band The Rapture, where he issued two albums and toured the world.
Mattie left The Rapture to begin a solo career and is now issuing his solo debut EP, All We Are. And he leads off the album with the smooth, uptempo number “Whenever You’re Ready.” It’s a melodic song with a cool groove that should appeal to both adult soul and pop music lovers.
