(November 29, 2021) SoulTrackers may only be slightly familiar with singer, songwriter and musician Masego, but he continues to impress fans of all stripes with his versatile performances that bridge multiple musical styles.
The artist, born as Micah Davis, teams with R&B vocalist Devin Morrison on a new single that musically recalls the Yacht Soul sounds of the 80s with modern R&B influences — all while paying tribute to a Thanksgiving staple, “Yamz.” The song is ostensibly about that sweet tuber vegetable, but is more about striving for a better, more successful life.
Both the message and the mildly retro vibe of the song hit just right, and the duo’s vocals fit the bill perfectly.
