(February 20, 2025) With a stellar resume that ranges from her tenure with Prince & the New Power Generation to starring in the stage production of Tyler Perry’s “Diary Of A Mad Black Woman” (with Billboard charted hits and works with many music titans in between), veteran songstress Marva King releases her new single, “Fire Love.” The track pays tribute to the Elements known as Earth Wind & Fire, group founder/leader Maurice White and longtime arranger/co-producer Charles Stepney.
With a bouncy keyboard and rhythm track influenced greatly by EWF’s works, Marva’s smoky yet sultry vocals bring to life solid, inspirational lyrics that would’ve earned Reece’s seal of approval. Marva calls for the listeners to embrace the diversity the world has to offer as well as acceptance of one’s self and each other. Once that happens, we can all “receive the fire” that love provides.
Rather than go into more detail about “Fire Love,” just take a listen to this great single from the pen of Marva and her collaborator Jerich “50 Karat” Shellington. With the times we are facing today in the world, especially in these **ahem** United States, their message is absolutely worth heeding. Highly recommended.
