First Listen: Mark King hopes to “See You Again”

Mark M. King began his musical career playing the saxophone, but eventually found true love with the bass guitar. Influenced by the soulful sounds and harmonies in his native Detroit, Mark began writing and performing as a teen.

Mark has continued to carry his love for soul music into adulthood, and is now releasing his long awaited debut album Heartfelt. The disc has a live, nightclub feel and a sound that touches on soul, jazz and even a bit of country.

We took a special liking to the ballad, “See You Again.” Mark described the song to us in this way: “’See You Again’ is a song about a guy, who like many men, has no idea what or who he has until she has gone. What makes it worse is he breaks up with her, and now he’s praying, begging, pleading and possibly waiting to die to see her again.  This song was written based upon observations, and conversations with friends who just seem to not know a good thing, lose it, and end up lonely as hell.   All of us probably know someone like this, hopefully that person is not you.”

Many SoulTrackers will no doubt be nodding at the story of the man in Mark’s song. We’re proud to present the World Premiere of “See You Again.” Check it out below, and welcome Mark King to the SoulTracks family.
