First Listen: Mark Bittler “Makes It Hard” with funky new single

mark_bittler

Mark Bittler is a funk music lifer. He played his first piano notes at three and studied classical piano, organ and French horn before he answered the call of the funk as a teenager and he’s been on the ONE ever since. Bittler fronted a band and landed a job as an intern at a radio station (even interviewing Ray Charles) all before his 17th birthday. The last 10 years, Bittler toured with, Bump Kitchen, one of the west coast’s top funk bands while hosting a program on Funk Republic Radio.

Bittler will release a solo project titled My Name Is Mark on May 20, and the first single is a classic piece of funk called “You Make It Hard.” Those familiar with Bump Kitchen will know that honking saxophones, hard driving bass lines and funky electric organs is how Bittler gets down, and there is more than a little bit of 1970s era Bar Kays in this track. Those new to the game, check it out.
