(November 4, 2018) Marc Staggers has been a SoulTracks favorite since his 2009 album Then and Now marked his emergence as an R&B artist, after years has a gospel singer. His latest song, the up-tempo steppers duet “I’ll Do Anything for You,” is special for a couple of reasons. First, it’s a great piece of breezy throwback soul that hearkens to a time when real live horns were a key arrow in the R&B band’s quiver.
Staggers’ muscular baritone finds it’s perfect complement in the vocals on Nia Simmons. This song along with the upcoming album Lets Go Out Tonight, are a collaboration between Staggers and his brother, noted R&B and gospel songwriter Reginald Staggers. And here, the two show a terrific brotherly connection, creating an infectious cut that will draw steppers to the floor. Check it out.
