First Look Video: Mamas Gun travels down the “Hardest Yards”

(April 25, 2026) Most SoulTrackers know by now that when it comes to modern R&B bands, Mamas Gun is at the top of our list. With 70s pop/soul sensibilities and always top-notch songwriting, they’ve progressed from a local UK audience to a worldwide fanbase that continues to grow in 2026.

The band’s new album, Dig, is another winner, and this week they’ve issued the video for the wonderful cut, “Hardest Yards.” Co-written by group member Andy Platts and fellow UK soul man Conner Reeves, the song analogizes a contested “3rd and short” play in a US football game to the difficulty in walking away from love. And it works.

Recorded at The Old Lace Factory in London, the video for “Hardest Yards” provides a cool 360-degree view of the band performing, and it is a joyous reminder of just how tight and polished Mamas Gun remains, more than a decade into their career. It is another in a string of fantastic looks for the group.
