(March 25, 2020) The hard-core music fan knows the power of a duet. It’s just something about two singers who use their musical connection to tell the story of a physical, emotional and spiritual connection. And whether we’re talking about Marvin and Tammy or Luther and Cheryl or Teddy and Stephanie, we remember those songs.

The duet never really went away, but these days it seems like those musical pairings are back in a big way. Gregory Porter and Lalah Hathaway shined on “Insanity.” Will Downing and Avery*Sunshine transformed the Dionne Warwick song” Déjà vu” into a new classic duet. Kim Cage Riley teamed with Eric Roberson to give us the simmering “Feel a Way.”

Now Virginia based singers Lydell Williams and Deli Rowe give us a good old-fashioned duet about intimacy with their song “Beside Me,” which is a track from Williams’ soon to be released album. The song falls into a deep bass and percussion groove that gives off the kind of mood that draws people close. Deli Rowe possesses a buttery sweet alto, that Williams’ sharp and hot baritone cuts through like butter. Check out “Beside Me” here.
