First Listen: Lukas Setto wants “Nobody But You”

(August 26, 2024) Lee Henry, Tru Menace, Jaden Lee.  So, what’s in a name?  The following all played a role in the career of Lukas Setto, a soul man through and through, who grew up around a father who was a DJ.  This U.K. born and raised multi-tasker was ready early to roll through his platform – winning the Urban Music Award as Best Unsigned Artist — and his behind-the-scenes savvy attracted the likes of U.K. urban music hitmakers Omar and Mark Ronson.

Setto’s silky voice was tailer made for his own catalog incorporating dance and sass, such as “What Turns You On,” “Do It Again,” and his intro to SoulTracks and First Listen with the contemporary R&B jam, “Lockdown.”

Today, most recognize Setto because of his reputation as a singer with a graceful falsetto and a send of the history of urban music from the 60’s to present.  Blending the best of several eras, First Listen brings back Setto for his latest single, “Nobody But You.”

After the piano and drums intro, the soundtrack opens up into a smooth, buttery retro mid-tempo track that echoes Soul Sonic and Motown alongside vocal harmonies galore.  Produced by Setto and written under longtime surname Lee Henry, “You’re more than enough for me” is the intent.  Setto’s tenor and a falsetto moment or two bring delight.
