First Listen: Lomax laments being the “Second Hand Man”

lomax

We are new converts to Georgia-born singer, Lomax Spaulding. The multi-instrumentalist began his musical life in Church, but really began his public musical career as a teenager in the group “Cashflow.” Over the next few years, he toured with Cameo, Levert, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Stephanie Mills, Rodger & Zapp, Atlantic Star, Midnite Star, Luther Vandross, Jermaine Jackson, Alexander O’Neal, Cherelle, Klymaxx, Shelia E, TEASE, Keith Sweat, Silk, XSCAPE, R. Kelly, L.L. Cool J and SOLO.

In 2004,Lomax returned to his Gospel roots, and he has regularly performed on both the Gospel and Southern Soul circuits since then. Now he is scoring with the album Life’s Lessons, mixing his gritty voice (which resembles such modern greats at Calvin Richardson) with soulful arrangements.  And the song that has immediately grabbed listeners is the instant classic “Second Hand Man.” It is the kind of soulful ballad that is the perfect introduction of this talented singer to the adult soul crowd.

We’re pleased to present “Second Hand Man” as our newest SoulTracks First Listen. Check it out below and tell us what you think!
