(June 22, 2025) Ce Ce Peniston is best known for the power packed vocals that turned songs like “Finally” and “Keep On Walking” into dance floor anthems starting in the 1990s. However, anyone having the kind of pipes that Peniston has will work magic with a ballad.
Peniston dropped her share of slow jams, and so trumpeter and producer Lin Rountree knew what he was getting when he tapped Peniston to be the lead vocalist on his jazz infused R&B tune “Missing You.”
Rountree wanted a singer who vocally had the chops to caress a song about a woman looking back with regret on a relationship that ended with two people going their separate ways. “Missing You” is a song that finds Peniston telling the story of all the good times that flood her mind, and how those memories trigger a sense of longing that has her checking a phone for a text that never comes.
The mid-tempo tune has jazzy piano and guitar riffs along with Rountree’s creativity on the trumpet. Check out Lin Rountree’s latest song, “Missing You,” featuring Ce Ce Peniston here.
