(March 19, 2026) Throughout SoulTracks history, we’ve had the pleasure of continuing to find promising talents on the independent recording platforms. In 2018, singer/songwriter LeVelle came out swinging on a First Listen with “Go to Bed Mad, ” a song dedicated to committed couples’ sour moods, where his razor sharp tenor transformed a possible ugly scenario into teachable examples (and a happy ending!)
Besides his interesting storylines, the Kansas City native always looked up to Charlie Wilson, Keith Sweat and more in mastering grown folks’ moments. LeVelle jumped started his career with a #11 Billboard R&B duet featuring Anthony Hamilton entitled “Fell in Love,” and two full-lengths, including My Journey Continues (which brought in 7 million streams). Earlier in 2026, LeVelle treated his audience revisiting a ‘70’s R&B classic, “Strawberry Letter 23,” alongside Architects of Sound.
It’s been a long time since LeVelle’s debut First Listen, and we’re happy to have him back for another inventive storyline on “Tongue Tied” (Porch Group Entertainment/LeVelle Music Group) from his 3rd full-length, All In Love. Just like “Go to Bed Mad,” the song’s title comes as advertised with a stressed-out lover struggling with what they really intended to say:
“I’m in your jail and I don’t want to be free
Every single time I hear your voice it be so crazy how my body freezes
I can’t believe this
I talks that good talk but with you.”
The co-production from Wirlie Morris (Wilson, Norman Brown) rides on a light ballad groove allowing space for LeVelle in providing a superb narration from a frustrated lover’s point of view. And “Tongue Tied”’s songwriting staff besides LeVelle boasts Morris, JayShawn Champion, and Traci Hale-Martin, who offer much experience etching adult R&B tracks for Wilson, Sweat and others. Listen up!
