(June 27, 2017) Though gospel music talent showcase BET’s Sunday Best ended two years ago, one of its prolific winners, Le’Andria Johnson, chocked up two singles, two E.P’s and a full-length – all on the Billboard Gospel Charts’ top twenty-five. It’s been awhile since this Florida-born singer/songwriter and pulpit minister stepped into the recording studio to go alongside her television appearances on Celebration of Gospel and Preachers of Atlanta. Unapologetic in battling controversy throughout her ministry, Johnson returns with the in-your-face, “Bigger Than Me.”
The cha-cha, Broadway-flavored track from her upcoming RCA Inspiration project of the same name pulls no punches: “A lot of people won’t even understand this moment right here/But for those who do/Just know that whatever comes against you/Honey, don’t mind it at all.” Daring to be different as a minister and as an artist, Johnson is quite comfortable switching up her musical game and sending unhesitant spiritual message at a moment’s notice.
