(March 4, 2020) Tranquil vibes take over “Promise U,” the new single from rising R&B/soul crooner Lando. Inside the calm ballad, the Detroit native is calling it quits with a frail love affair, and hopes that over “a couple of drinks, some time to think…a bottle and some friends to lean on,” he’ll be able to say farewell.
This three-minute episode, sprinkled with dreamy Rhodes and illustrious backing harmonies, feels like a spellbinding throwback to Musiq Soulchild ‘00’s neo-soul. And it’s a sure sign of promising things to come as Lando, now based in Atlanta, prepares to drop his sophomore LP, Whiskied Musings & Melodies, this spring. The self-produced and composed “Promise U” is the first single from the anticipated disc.
