First Look Video: Lamone powerfully addresses mental health with “Strive”

Lamone’s new song “Strive” is a song of encouragement. And encouragement is something that we all need, even if we think that we don’t. From an arrangement standpoint, Lamone endows “Strive” with a percussion martial groove that helps drive home the message that remaining encouraged and positive is a daily struggle against the many obstacles that conspire to make a person doubt their mission decide to give up.

That percussive, marching rhythm sets the foundation for a song that includes jazz influenced improvisation on the saxophone, courtesy of William Prince, along with gospel and jazz influences on the piano. Meanwhile, Lamone’s vocal moves easily from husky baritone to buttery falsetto, delivering a message of moving forward against the storms of adversity and uncertainty. The message in this anthem of perseverance is just that – persevere.

“Strive” fuses an infectious melody with a timely message. That is a combination that also worked with his 2022 single “Rhythm and Blues.” Lamone is an artist who has proven that he can make up tempo club banger or mid-tempo cuts for the steppers set. With “Strive” Lamone showcases his skill at being a motivator and righteous teacher.
