First Listen: Lamone won’t look in the “Rear View Mirror”

lamone

Eight years ago, we introduced SoulTrackers to talented East Coast singer Lamone. But we kind of lost track of the Waterbury, Connecticut native after his impressive album Eclectically Speaking. Turns out he has continued to perform both in the US and abroad, and he has finally returned to the recording studio and released a brand new album called Smooth, working with Chris “Big Dog” Davis (Phil Perry).

Well, Lamone leads off the new disc in style. “Rear View Mirror” is a cool midtempo with a steady groove and strong vocals. But it sounds even better when accompanied by the music video for the song. It features Lamone saying goodbye to a bad relationship with some great group choreography behind him. Lamone tells us about the song: “’Rear View Mirror’ is basically a severing of ties with one’s past, ’cause you’re no longer living there, and moving forward/ahead to a future of bigger and better things!”

You’ll enjoy the moves almost as much as this infectious song. Check out the video for “Rear View Mirror” below and tell us what you think!
