(July 31, 2017) It’s been quite a year for the uber-talented Lalah Hathaway, who won a Grammy Award for her live album and was also featured on the Hidden Figures soundtrack. But we’ve been anxiously awaiting hearing new music from her upcoming album Honestly, and now it’s here.
“I Can’t Wait” has a steady beat behind her recognizable alto, and a call-and-response with her background singers, all behind a song that qualifies as an earworm for us. The feel good song makes us look forward to hearing more from Honestly, but for now we’ll settle for listening to this groove about 100 or so times.
