First Listen: Krizz Kaliko gets soulful on “Stop The World”

(March 25, 2016) Some music fans may know Krizz Kaliko as a rapper. But who knew he was also a powerful soul singer? Well, that side of him comes out in full Church mode on his brand new single, “Stop The World.” As someone who dealt with getting brutally teased as a child because of his skin disease vitiligo, Krizz found strength in attending and singing in the church choir, and in his mother, who helped him fight his life-long battle with depression.

Krizz tells us about the song: “In 2015 there several days where I contemplated suicide. The world felt like a big ride that I wanted to get off of. Life was not fun to me anymore. My marriage was troubled, I didn’t know where my career was going, my mental health was greatly affecting me at the time. I had decided to go and check into a mental institution to see if there was a way to ease the pain mentally. A lot of my fans feel this exact same way. That’s why my music helps them and keeps them from hurting themselves or even committing suicide. I think we all have at least this thought at one time or another. Music imitates life. ‘Stop the world and let me off’ paints the picture.”

While we weren’t fans of his rap work, we love the direction Krizz has gone to with “Stop The World.” Take a listen below and enjoy.
