(January 15, 2016) SoulTrackers know that we’ve been singing the praises hot new singer Kenya for over a year now, and her 2015 album release, My Own Skin (see our review), was among our favorites of the year. But there are quite a few gems from that album that folks may have missed, and “makeusmile” was that one for me.
So producer Tom Glide decided to dig in and put a new twist on that track, and we’re loving the result. Kenya gives us some background: “This is one of my favorite songs from my album My Own Skin mainly because its simply a ‘feel good’ song. I’m excited to release this new rework version because it now has an extra level of groove that I believe listeners will enjoy. Featured artist Brandon McKenzie is the writer and composer while Kendall Duffie from Kloud 9 is the original producer. The rework is produced by French (London based) producer Tom Glide.” “makeusmile” is available for download exclusively on Kenya’s website beginning today, and will be available at all digital outlets on January 22.
