(June 6, 2024) From the moment Ketara “KeKe” Wyatt made her 2000 solo debut, pouring her heart, soul and a soaring, supple soprano into her now-signature duet with Avant, “My First Love,” we knew her skills weren’t a game. Her vocal talent was prepped in church and seasoned with the same tenacity that’s kept her in our ears, on our screens and on stages with the best and brightest of talents. Personal challenges, professional turbulences and label dramas aside, what matters the most is that KeKe’s vocal card never declines, which is why fans will enjoy her decidedly spicy latest single, “Certified.”
Don’t let her wedding ring and ‘supermommy’ status fool you…KeKe is still ready and willing to cater to her man behind closed doors (or wherever): gliding over a percol slow-burning track in her nimble, breathy trill, KeKe reminds him that she’s still expecting the full workout and to not let the job or daddy duties interfere—-“So I hope that you ain’t scared to wet the the bed up, we gon’ turn this to a slip-n-slide/Don’t be afraid to wake the kids up, I got this pillow here that I can bite.”
As the title track to her latest release (dropping on June 28), “Certified” describes her gifts as a performer and a tantalizing snippet hinting of Ms. Wyatt’s powerful pipe game. And if anyone is worth waiting for, as their newest offering winds its way through our playlists, it’s a mic slayer like KeKe.
