First Listen: Keith ‘Wonderboy’ Johnson wants us to “Keep Pushin’”

(January 7, 2018) The precise soulful harmonies of the gospel quartets The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Williams Brothers and many more continue making their presence known while inspiring more generations of quartet voices.  Keith ‘Wonderboy’ Johnson and The Spiritual Voices, founded by Keith’s father Phil Johnson, have maintained the integrity of quartet music for almost two decades.  And Wonderboy is certainly a fitting nickname for Keith Johnson, a New York native whose keen sense of live performance locks into the quartet spirit with old standards and his original compositions, such as “I Just Want To Be Right” and “Let Go Let God.”  Besides his own career, Johnson honored another group of promising voices in 2008 with The Rising Stars of Quartet (Malaco), earning a Stellar Nomination.

Johnson marks his upcoming first release in eight years with “Keep Pushin’” (Shanachie Entertainment/SRT Entertainment).  The upbeat title track exudes an unspeakable joy in singing about his faith.  Despite the serious motivational lessons, Johnson utilizes a pleasing sense of humor while teaching about unmovable faithfulness in a Christian walk. Get ready to experience the thrill of quartet excitement through the heart and soul of the ‘Wonderboy.’
