(September 5, 2016) From 1975 to 1980, Miami-based disco ensemble KC & The Sunshine Band scored a slew of massive dance hits that resonated with soul, pop, and disco audiences alike: “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “Get Down Tonight,” “I’m Your Boogie Man,” and “Please Don’t Go”—to name a very few. While they have continued to perform live regularly over the past three decades, their recording output has been sporadic since the mid-‘80s. Last year’s Feeling You! (The 60s) saw group founder Harry Wayne Casey paying homage to musical influences of the decade prior to his breakthrough, and now he’s delving further into contemporary dance floor territory (with a slightly classic touch) on the single, “We Belong Together.”
Penned by Casey and produced with DJ Casey Namen, “We Belong Together” blends elements of Euro-dance, house, and R&B. With optimistic lyrics and an appropriately sunny melody and arrangement, the track aims to appeal to longtime fans while introducing newer listeners to the Sunshine Band’s legacy.
