What happens when “Flashback Soul” meets new soul? In this case, magic.
Soul songstress Kandace Springs recently brought her special brand of jazzy funk to the television program Live From Daryl’s House, hosted by the great Daryl Hall, and the chemistry between these artists was electric. Featured here trading verses on the Hall & Oates track “Everything Your Heart Desires,” Kandace showed us why she has been invited by Daryl, Prince and others to perform and collaborate: Her tone, phrasing, feel and musicianship are sublime. The entire show is a rocking good time.
And can we talk about Daryl a moment? I challenge all SoulTrackers to name another 69-year old musician having as much fun as this guy. He is smiling throughout like the Cheshire Cat, and when he screams toward the end of the track, his genuine joy is palpable. You’ll smile along, and nod your head in time, watching this one!
