(April 24, 2026) Have you ever heard a song that took you back in time? With the right ingredients, a new song can exude that ‘old school feeling’ as soon as you hear it.
Julian Jonah has a knack for creating that kind of nostalgia in his music. He’s been called “one of Britain’s unsung heroes of dance music” and “the master of modern-day soulful boogie” because of “his enchanting early 80’s throwback productions.” One of his latest releases – a track he wrote and produced called “Take My Love” – lives up to that description. Even though I was born in the last year of the 1980s, I immediately felt like I was in that decade when I first heard this song.
“Take My Love” features the vocals of Robbie Love, a soulful singer who’s been in recording studios practically since birth, thanks to her Mom (Mary Love) and Aunt (Barbara Morrison), who were both respected vocalists. On this new release, Robbie is inviting yet straightforward – she offers her love to her prospective man but tells him not to waste her time if he can’t commit.
I’m not looking for a throwaway love
Don’t come ‘round here messing with my heart
You can be sure I’ll give the best I got
It’s just up to you to play your part…
Won’t you take a chance on my love
Although a 2026 release, “Take My Love” would fit just fine in one of your 80’s playlists somewhere between Gwen Guthrie and Stephanie Mills. It’s a track that can make you move, whether putting on your dancing shoes or maybe even your roller skates. So, go ahead and boogie down with Julian Jonah and Robbie Love here.
