(February 5, 2023) The Jackson family seemed to own popular music in the 1980s, with members topped the charts individually and in various combinations. But special spots in the decade were taken by Michael and Janet Jackson, as each broke out with career albums that moved them creatively and commercially into the stratosphere.
Now Milwaukee-based producer Josh Bracy remembers the Jackson dominance by mashing up a couple of iconic album cuts by Michael and Janet that we never knew could go together so beautifully. “Lady In My Life” was one of the few non-singles on the hit-packed Thriller album, but it became a Quiet Storm favorite anyway. Similarly was Janet’s “Funny How Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun)” from her monster Control disc.
Bracy has found the surprise unifying elements of the two cuts to seamlessly turn them into an ethereal, nearly seven minute, nighttime jam that has us grinning ear to ear. We think you’re going to love it too. Check out the “Slowed Version” of the combination below, and enjoy this new lookback with us.
