(January 28, 2025) Johnny Britt has been merging the genres of jazz, R&B and hip-hop for three decades. He did so as a member of the group Imprompt2, which he co-founded with rapper Sean E. Mac. For the last decade, Britt has emerged as a R&B/contemporary jazz artist, where his smooth vocals, creative trumpet playing and sensual lyricism have marked him as a multi-faceted artist.
Britt returns with his new single, “Show You.” The tune is the first song from his upcoming album Midnight In Paris. Paris, as we know, is the city of lights and love. If “Show You” is any indication, this seductive mid-tempo ballad will set the tone for love. Light? I don’t know. This is one you might want to play with the dimmer turned low, or with the only illumination coming from candles.
The song fuses an R&B arrangement featuring smooth bass line that serves as foundation for jazzy guitar riffs and Britt’s buttery tenor. He is letting his lady know that he stands ready to prove his love by putting actions behind the romantic words that he speaks.
Of course, no Johnny Britt song would be complete without some jazzy improvisation on the trumpet. This song will have you eagerly anticipating the album. Check out “Show You” here.
