(September 27, 2024) Italian soul singer Filippo Perbellini has had a deep love for American soul music since he was a child. And as he grew, he studied and developed a style that recalled the R&B greats of the 1970s, which ultimately led to his signing the historic Motown label.
Over the past decade and a half, Perbellini has worked with legendary producer Tommy Vicari (Tina Turner, Prince), and even received vocal coaching from iconic soul man, Jeffrey Osborne. All that has led to a series of tasty releases that have elevated Perbellini’s profile around the world.
For his latest single, Perbellini teams with his mentor, Osborne, for an edgy midtempo that boasts a steady beat and just as steady pleas to a hasty lover in two languages. The singers take turns on lead vocals and help deliver a song that becomes a bit of an earworm — the kind of single that should please both soulheads and a younger generation of fans.
Check out “Slow Down,” and welcome back Jeffrey Osborne and his mentee. It is a great pairing.
