First Listen: Marsha Ambrosius and Jeff Bradshaw feel it “Sincerely”

(July 11, 2020) Thanks to conditions and circumstances beyond our control — the pandemic, postponed vacation plans and bar closures, to say the least — romance for most hasn’t been at the top of the list. Especially if you’re ‘sheltering in place,’ literally or figuratively, with one person as your heart is somewhere else.

That’s the kind of love triangle that soul siren Marsha Ambrosius is describing in the collabo with musician Jeff Bradshaw, “I Do Sincerely.”

Unfolding just like a forbidden encounter, Bradshaw’s trombone threads the groove under Ambrosius’ lilting vocals, a confession about wanting their secret trysts to happen again, and again, because despite the time she spent away makes their moments even hotter: “You were the best I ever left, not once or twice, three times before…..if this ain’t love what’s this all for?”

Given the recently viral “Entanglement Chronicles” featuring Will Smith, wife Jada and another R&B performer, August Alsina, “Sincerely” could have been its theme song. But Jeff Bradshaw’s percussive take on the groove, punctuating Marsha’s breathless confessions like a heartbeat, turns it into something relatable for anyone who found themselves on an emotional fence, stuck between two loves and hoping to figure out the softest side on which to land.
