First Listen: Jean Carne classic gets a hot new mix

(July 8, 2026) Every major artist has at least one signature song – a song that represents their greatest success and is associated with them throughout their career. Legendary vocalist Jean Carne is no different. Recognized as one of the finest singers of our time, she has performed gospel, jazz, and R&B/Soul, but her signature song, without a doubt, is “Don’t Let It Go To Your Head,” a hit tune penned by Gamble & Huff and released in 1978. Almost 50 years later, Jean’s soulful advice to avoid a swelled head is still a fan favorite. It’s an essential piece of the Philly Soul songbook.

In 2013, Jean re-recorded “Don’t Let It Go To Your Head” among other tunes for her critically acclaimed comeback album, Flashback, produced by award-winning Philly Soul producer, Butch Ingram. That 2013 version added a little more spice to the melody. Now, here in 2026, there’s an update to that update. Society Hill Records, which Butch Ingram is Founder and CEO of, has released “Don’t Let It Go To Your Head (In the House Mix).”

This 2026 version is described as a “fresh remix that places more emphasis on the bass drum for all the dancers out there – shining a new light on a stone-cold classic.” In other words, you may be more inclined to boogie when listening to this remix because there’s a bit more bounce in the beat. It includes the saxophone too, which is always a smooth addition to any song. And yes, true to the title, this remix would be pleasing to the ears of House music fans.
