First Listen: Jean Baylor pays tribute to dads on “Fathers Song”

Once one-half of the duo Zhane, Jean Baylor has created a fascinating solo career over the past decade, mixing Gospel and R&B and releasing uniformly terrific songs.

In celebration of Father’s Day, Jean has returned with an original song and new video that will touch the hearts of anyone who knows a father’s meaning to his daughter.  “Father’s Song” was written and produced by Jean and husband Marcus Baylor on their “Be A Light” label.

As a PKs (pastor’s kids!), Jean and her siblings were blessed to be raised by a true “father”: a man of the deepest commitment to his family as well as a man of great influence in his church and community.  Baylor states, ” Okay, so I’m sitting here watching this new video that we’re getting ready to premiere for Father’s Day, trying to work on the press release and I can only watch it three times in a row without getting a big ole’ knot in my throat because of the emotion of what my dad meant to me, my siblings, our friends, and our community. I can’t be working and passed out on the floor crying! Lol, My Dad was everything, and more that you could ever ask for in a father—loving, caring, supportive, and most importantly, consistent. I pray that other girls can be fortunate enough to have someone father them the way my dad fathered me. For those who do not, I also hope this song exemplifies our heavenly Father’s unconditional love for all of us.”
