(August 14, 2025) Canadian soul singer JC Sol has always wanted to cover the classic ballad “Anyone Who Had A Heart.” She was just waiting for the stars to align. “This particular song has so much meaning, not only to me, but to so many who have been exposed to the wonder of these early recordings – whether it be through their own record collection or that of their parents and grandparents.”
Everything fell into place to honor the legacies of Burt Bacharach, Hal Davis, Dionne Warwick and Luther Vandross when JC Sol assembled an all-star cast of her own, allowing her to fuse the together the Warwick performed original with Vandross’s remarkable rendition, while also adding her unique touch in the form of a duet with the excellent Carlos Budd Ford.
The result is a version of “Anyone Who Had A Heart” that captures the Quiet Storm, jazz infused smooth R&B of Vandross’s classic reinterpretation while adding a simmering vocal musical conversation between JC Sol and Carlos Budd Ford. Check it out here.
